　（18:54）皮肉ですね。政府系ファンド（NWF）の動きを一番警戒していたアメリカが、政府系ファンドの代表格に救いの手を差し出してもらうとは。

　何のことを言っているかというと、日本の昼休み時間中に発表された米シティグループに対するアラブ首長国連邦（UAE）アブダビ首長国政府の統制下にあるアブダビ投資庁の７５億ドル（約８０００億円）の出資。確かこのNWFの規模は８０００億ドルだったと思った。世界で一番大きい。

　最後に掲載しますが、シティはこれについて声明を発表している。噂でも何でも何でもない。この報道で東京株式市場は反発しましたが、香港やボンベイはまだ下げている。昨日のニューヨーク市場の下げが今日はどうなるのか。引き続き不安定な動きを示すでしょう。

　ところで、フライトの行き帰りなどで二つの良い映画を見ました。

　マイティ・ハート
　Always 続三丁目の夕日

　上の作品は、２００２年に年にパキスタンで取材中にテロリストに誘拐され、その後殺害された実在のジャーナリスト（ウォール・ストリート・ジャーナルの記者）、ダニエル・パールの奥さんが著した手記を映画化したもの。実に重い社会派ドラマになっている。事件の真相や、夫への愛をつづった奥さんの原作に感銘を受けたブラッド・ピットが製作を務め、妊娠しながらも懸命に夫を捜す妻をアンジェリーナ・ジョリーが熱演したものだ。

　事実に忠実に作っているのでしょう。ビシビシと当時の緊迫感が伝わってくる。パキスタンには行ったことがありませんが、インドよりは一段と複雑な政治勢力の対立があるのでしょう。その暗闇との戦いの難しさが伝わってくる。「Mighty Heart」は直訳すれば「強き心」ですが、本当にそうだと思いました。

　もう一作の「三丁目」は、プロデューサーの方と以前お会いしたし、一作目が非常に良かったため。今回も前回のほんわかムードがよく残っていて、結構単純なのに泣けますな。実に懐かしい感じがする。「続」とかはあまりいけない作が多いのですが、今回のは見て良かったと思う。

　シティがニューヨーク時間の２６日夜遅くに発表した声明は以下の通りです。これだけ買ってもらっても、発行残高の４．９％に過ぎないという点を強調。アメリカ政府やマスコミの懸念を心配したのでしょう。

Citigroup's statement on receiving a $7.5 billion cash infusion from Abu Dhabi's investment arm.

NEW YORK, Nov. 26 -- Citi announced today that it has reached an agreement to sell Equity Units, with mandatory conversion into common shares, in a private placement to the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), a long-term investor committed to the U.S. capital markets, in the amount of $7.5 billion. ADIA's aggregate ownership in Citi's common shares, including the conversion of these Equity Units, will total no more than 4.9% of Citi's total shares outstanding.

"This investment, from one of the world's leading and most sophisticated equity investors, provides further capital to allow Citi to pursue attractive opportunities to grow its business," said Win Bischoff, Citi's Acting Chief Executive Officer. "It builds on a series of actions we have taken over the past several months to strengthen our capital base, which have included sales of certain non-strategic assets, the issuance of trust preferred securities, and the previously announced plan to use common stock to purchase 32% of Nikko Cordial in Japan. In addition, ADIA is a significant participant in alternative investments and emerging markets financial services, two areas in which we have major positions and have been expanding.
